Miss Brill

This story deals with a woman who longs to remain young and is looking for love. She feels secure with her fur around her neck and caresses it as she would a lover. She longs to be a part of this grand picture. She is brought back to reality when the young couple refers to her as a stupid old thing. How she longs for yesterday.
2nd attempt
The setting of Miss Brill is a park. The park symbolizes a place of belonging to a group of people and playing a role. Miss Brill is playing the role of an actress who longs to be loved even for a moment. She demonstrates this love in her carressing of her fur and by reading the newspaper to the OLDER gentleman everyday.
I feel this is a story of looking for a long lost love.
3rd attempt
In Miss Brill, by Katherine Mansfield we see the symbolism of love and longing to be loved through Miss Brills pressence at the park week after week. Miss Brill longs to be a part of the big picture and plays a role of the lonely old lady. This story is told in first person . The antagonist in the story is the young couple who view Miss Brill as old and worthless. The type of conflict is internal within Miss Brill. She so desires to be loved and to give love. The external conflict is from the couple once again, belittling Miss Brill.

This story is a love story. I feel Miss Brill is a lonely lady who so desperately desires to be loved. She goes to great lengths to be loved, this love is an imaginary love. Oh to be young and free.

Angela,
You summarized the plot and theme somewhat, but once again, you did not use literary language, and you did not include your own response/reaction. Please re-do!

Angela--
This was better, but I want you to incorporate more literary language as you analyze the story. Be sure to keep this in mind as you post your entries for tomorrow.Try to lengthen your responses, also. 3/4
