The persona implies that beauty is only skin deep. No matter the outward appearance it is the heart that matters. This poem is written as a qyatrain. The persona uses metaphors when speaking of the worm. The worm is like a theif who comes and destories the beautiful room. He is only out to gain what is good for himself not for the benefit of the flower.
The rhyme pattern is anapestic.
I feel this poem does indeed represent me at times. I want my way in a relationship and at times hurt those I love the most. Maybe I am a worn not a rose.

We had an interesting discussion over this poem. In order to understand it, you must know a little about the author's life. Most critics agree that he is actually discussing rape in this poem.
