This poem is written in dramatic monologue. The persona is addressing old age and her response to it. She uses visual images of an old lady and a Rembrandt painting. Both of this images are of great value. It is written in first person. With the persona giving us details of her past and her present day. The persona implies to the reader that old age is to be cherish. This is seen in the last stanza I know that woman and painting and season are almost one and all beyond saving by children. The tone is of understanding and growth.
This poem speaks to me to always cherish what is a percious and glorious gift. That is old age. I have a saying, you can enjoy aging or be a daisy pusher! Age is in the eye of the beholder.
